Instructions
Tell Tona's AI what to post, where to post it, and when.
Instructions
Instructions are how you tell Tona what to publish. You write a prompt describing the content you want, pick your platforms, and choose when it should go live. Tona's AI takes it from there.
To create an instruction, click Manual in your project sidebar and open the New Post tab.
Creating an Instruction
Setting up an instruction takes just a few steps:
Pick Your Platforms
Select one or more of your connected social media accounts. Tona will create a tailored version of the content for each platform you choose.
Write Your Prompt
Describe what you want the AI to create. Be as specific as you like about the topic, tone, and style. For example: "Write a friendly announcement about our summer sale starting next Monday."
If you have saved Presets, you can pick one from the dropdown instead of writing from scratch. Presets are reusable prompt templates that save you time when you post about similar topics regularly.
Attach Images (Optional)
You can attach up to 4 images to include with your post. Click the upload area to add them, and hover over any image to remove it.
Choose When to Publish
Tona gives you three publishing modes:
- Publish Now - The AI generates and publishes your content right away.
- Schedule for Later - Pick a specific date and time for your post to go live.
- Repeat on a Schedule - Set an interval (from every hour to every 30 days) and Tona will keep generating and publishing fresh content on that schedule.
For scheduled and repeating instructions, a date and time picker will appear so you can set exactly when things should happen.
What Happens Next
After you submit an instruction, the AI gets to work generating your content. Depending on your settings, the content is either published immediately or placed in your Review Queue for you to approve first.
Tracking Your Instructions
Every instruction has a status so you always know where things stand:
- Active - A scheduled or repeating instruction that is waiting for its next run.
- Processing - The AI is currently generating content.
- Pending Review - Content is ready and waiting for your approval in the Review Queue.
- Completed - The instruction has finished all its runs.
You can view all your past instructions in the History tab, filter them by type, and expand any entry to see the full details.
Pausing or Cancelling
If you have an active scheduled or repeating instruction, you can cancel it at any time. This stops future runs while keeping all your past results in history.
